One thing I know- with out having to sit around and wait for some psychologist to discover it
Posted: 20 years ago - Jun 30, 2006 The Personality of Gender Traits and Sexual Behavior or is it... Gender Behavior and Sexual Tendencies...? So, people have infinitely diverse personalities right? A personality is described by traits, traits are defined by what one does (behavior patterns), and people act/respond to stuff in accordance with their personality. Its a person's growth of situational experience through constantly changing, interrelated external and internal factors... I.E; the pushy loud mouth and the quiet pushover, OR leader and follower, OR...the mover and the shaker, all respond differently to different stuff depending on their experiences or lack thereof. Furthermore, within a lifetime, most folks will have been EACH of these; along with countless other opposing ends of countless other behavior-defined trait spectrums, at one time or another. Well, that's the obvious part... You got two similar, very specific "sub-structures" of this functioning personality--in gender and sexuality--which define personality as much they are affected by it...Along with the everyday "traditional personality structures," these three systems of behavior-defined trait patterns affect--and are affected by--each other. Just as much as each of these three personality realms individually consist; of similar sets of mutually-fulfilling behavior modes and response patterns, regarding their respective aspects of life. Take gender... you have gender roles (what you do, on a male-female typical-tendency spectrum), and gender identities, (along a spectrum of typically male-female patterns- why you do what you do.) Gender roles define gender identity just as much as identity affects what you do. As for sexuality: Quite simply, its a tendency along the spectrum of behaviors between homo and hetero, suggestive of a personality trait as defined by the spectrum of a certain set of related behaviors. But... sexuality is not unidirectional- its not only what you like but how you rather like it be done. It more resembles an independent personality, than a mere personality trait- such of, introverted-extroverted; only, it's infinite AND individual, to already infinitely diverse personalities. Gender is the manifestaion of something even more dramatically complex; it exits before during and after, both personality and sexuality- its what bridges a three dimensional personality with its even more indefinite sexuality- compounding the compounded...that's more dimensions than you can count on one hand. I don't wanna come off as though I know the first thing about math beyond algebra, but if you think gender is a black and white concept.... Well, when you start developing personality traits that all lean the same direction, such as the depressive introvert or attention-deficit extrovert...that's what we call a psychological disorder.
